This was my first ever drawing of Molly's current design, from several years ago! Almost everything has remained consistent since then.
Another early drawing of Molly. She was designed before all the other characters in the comic.
I was still working out her hairstyle here. I feel like this reads more clearly as an updo, but it also feels sort of formless compared to her current design.
I was going to draw her holding something, but couldn't decide what...
My first concept art of Mercer! She looks slightly different than she does now.
Some art I did in a more realistic style of Molly and Mercer. These look a little janky because I don't usually draw in this style, but I thought I could learn something from it. Fun fact: Molly's is referenced from a still of Miranda from The Devil Wears Prada.
This piece is referenced from a photo. The model in it looked so much like how I imagine my Molly design (if a bit younger) that I felt I had to redraw it. The original is from the "strict institution" photoshoot for Interview Magazine March 2012.
I created this to be the cover of my Molly playlist... it may or may not be 8 hours long...
This one I just drew because I missed drawing Molly during the creation of chapter 2.
This is one of the first times I drew Molly's hair down. This is the length I imagine it at before she styles it. Molly is the kind of person to meticulously construct her appearance, so she always has her hair up. That's why I associate her hair being down with feelings of frustration that she tries to keep away from her public image.
I realised I'd never really drawn Mercer outside of her detective getup! Especially since she falls asleep in her office still fully dressed at the end of chapter one, I wanted to draw her in what she'd normally wear to bed. I'm pretty proud of this piece!
Art I made to celebrate the first anniversary of YOTTABYTE!
